At the moment I am updating my iPad from iOS 10.0.2 to 10.2, in case that makes any difference….any and all suggestions appreciated. An iPhone that previously had no trouble picking up the sharing wifi signal from my old iMac also shows the same “no internet connection” message. I have never had any problem sharing from my old circa 2007 iMac to my iPad Mini 2 in the past and I can’t figure out why it is not working right with this new iMac. And the sharing icon on the top of my desktop screen shows that sharing is activated (arrow pointing up), as it always did on my old iMac. The iMac, contrary to that message, DOES have an internet connection–via Ethernet–and it is working just fine (as evidenced by the fact that I am reading this article on it). However, if you know of any way to make reverse tethering over Bluetooth work on a Mac, do let us know about it in the comments section below.Īfter 45 mins on the phone with AppleCare, they still cannot figure out why my iPad is saying “no internet connection” on the network it’s picking up from my brand new iMac with Sierra. While it was possible, earlier, to share internet from your Mac, over Bluetooth, that option no longer seems to work, which is why we haven’t covered it in this article. You can use these methods to share your Mac’s internet connection with other devices over WiFi, or Ethernet. We tried these methods on an iMac running macOS Sierra and they worked fine for us. SEE ALSO: How to Check Battery Time Remaining in macOS Sierra 10.12.2 Share Internet from Mac to Other Devices via Ethernet or WiFi If the other devices also have WiFi capabilities, you can directly connect them to your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot, which is far easier than setting up Internet Sharing. You will now be able to share your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot with other devices that don’t have WiFi capabilities. Here, select “ WiFi” in the drop down menu that says “ Share your connection from“, and check the checkbox next to “ Ethernet“, under “ To computers using“.Here, wait till your iPhone appears, and then click on “ Pair“.Next, on your Mac, go to System Preferences, and click on “ Bluetooth“.Make sure that Bluetooth is turned on, on your iPhone. It will ask you whether you want to turn WiFi on, or just share the connection over Bluetooth and USB. First, on your iPhone, turn off WiFi, and turn on “Personal Hotspot”.If you want to share your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot to your Mac using Bluetooth, and then share that over the Ethernet, here is how you can do it: Share iPhone’s Personal Hotspot via Bluetooth You can even use this to share your iPhone’s connection to a router, and connect multiple devices with the router using Ethernet cables. This particular section is useful for sharing your iPhone’s internet to other devices that do not support WiFi… like an old desktop PC. Note : There are three ways that you can share your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot with your Mac you can connect to it using Bluetooth, you can connect to it using the iPhone’s USB cable, or you can simply share it using WiFi. This is also very simple, and the steps are much the same as the previous ones, but for the sake of clarity, I will be walking you through the process, step-by-step: Share your iPhone’s Connection over EthernetĪnother cool thing you can do, is share the Personal Hotspot on your iPhone, over Ethernet, using your Mac. If you want to protect your WiFi network, you can simply click on the “ Wi-Fi Options” button, in Internet Sharing, and set up a password.ģ. Your Mac will now begin sharing your Ethernet connection over WiFi, and you can simply join the network on any device that has WiFi support. The process is similar to sharing your WiFi over Ethernet however, in the second step, you’ll have to select “ Ethernet” in the drop down menu that says “Share your connection from”, and check the checkbox next to “WiFi”, under “To computers using”. It would be more useful, if you could connect your Mac to Ethernet, and then share that connection over WiFi, wouldn’t it? Well, fortunately, you can do that easily, as well. Share Ethernet Connection from your Mac over WiFi You can now plug an Ethernet cable into your Mac, and the laptop that you want to share your connection with, and it’ll simply work.Ģ.

Although every casting director and agent has a slightly different take, the general consensus seems to be that common hobbies or interests that don’t require specialized skills-being an avid reader, a sushi fanatic, or a dog lover-can be left off. Not all of your passions belong in the special skills section of your acting résumé, however. Actors, please remember that you could cost a production a lot of money if you claim expertise in an area but don’t in fact have it.” “I once cast an actor who said he could ride a horse when the time came for him to shoot his scene, I received a panicked call from the line producer, who told me the actor was terrified atop the horse. “ If you can’t do something with excellence, don’t put it on your résumé,” warns casting director Ilene Starger. It is never okay to lie about a special skill on your acting résumé. Whatever the given skill that you’re listing, you must be able to do it-and do it well. “One actor who mentioned on his résumé that he was a Green Beret helped get him on ‘The Wire,’ where he got a two-year contract.” “If you can dance or know medical terminology, that's useful for me to know,” she says. Philadelphia talent agent Mary Anne Claro advises that actors think outside of the box when it comes to special skills. Unusual athletic abilities, such as hymnastics, martial arts, cheerleading, fencing, skiingīut don’t let this list limit you. If you’re wondering where to start, here is a list of some of the more common special skills that casting directors and agents look for on an acting résumé: Think about where your personal interests and passions might intersect with the practical needs of the project, and include any skills on your acting résumé that will help you stand out from the crowd. “Many of the seminal roles of those we now know and love have been career tipping points for actors due to their unique skills.” “Imagine Geoffrey Rush in ‘Shine’ had he not been able to play the piano, Olivia Munn on ‘The Newsroom’ if she wasn't fluent in Japanese, or Channing Tatum if he couldn't dance,” acting teacher Paul Barry says. But other unusual or rare talents can also fall under the umbrella of special skills-and can even serve as a conversation-starter at general meetings or agent interviews.Īctors’ special skills aren’t just a nice-to-have-sometimes they’re pivotal to the project. Common special skills for actors include proficiency in a particular type of dance (salsa, tap, ballet), musical instruments, foreign language or dialects, sportt (gymnastics, cheerleading, horseback riding), and stage combat. Actors are generally expected to include a “special skills” or “special talents” section at the bottom of their résumé, which includes a list of any abilities that could come in handy for a role. There may be several indications that a chemical reaction has occurred. Sometimes the easiest way to identify a physical change is to rule out the possibility of a chemical change. Which is the easiest way to identify a physical change? Physical changes occur when substances are mixed but don’t chemically react. The size, shape, and color of matter may change. No new substance is created during a physical change, although the matter takes a different form. What happens to matter during a physical change? And in case you want to know what those “other apps” are, I’ve made a list of iA Writer Alternatives to cross my computer screen at one time or another at the end of this article. In the end, I always come back to iA Writer, for so many reasons. I have given most of them more than a cursory try. I have looked at them ALL over the years. I have been using iA Writer since it came out (I think sometime around 2007–2008), and you may think since I have been using this one app for this long I haven’t checked out the other options. Do I really need a second brain anyway? The first one is still working last I checked. It’s always just there, waiting for me, whenever I want to come home. Then the current “missing feature” becomes a deal breaker for me and I head back to iA Writer who always waits patiently for me to return, never complaining, always accommodating, never asking where I’ve been or what great things I’ve seen. Yet they all excel at something, many things, and they all stink at something else. Another next best app with that one feature I’ve been waiting for and at the same time never seems to be in development. In fact, there are so many options that finding a new writing/note app today has become noise in the background. There are many options when it comes to writing applications. The two shapes are both parallelograms and the tessellation is often referred to as "Kites and Darts" :Īlthough there are small repeated sections, there is no single unit which can be copied to fill the plane. Amazingly, he managed to reduce this to only six, then just two. Using only pencil and paper, Penrose found such an arrangement but it contained many different shapes. This kind of tessellation became known as quasi-periodic, in other words at first glance there appears to be a repeating pattern, but in fact He began by investigating combinations of shapes which would produce a repeating unit, but this led on to a search for a pattern with no repetition. While studying for his PhD at Cambridge, Penrose became fascinated by the geometry of covering a plane. Octagons and squares can be arranged to form a semi-regular pattern: The image that we are likely to think of is known as a regular tessellation, where all the shapes are regular and of the same type, for example:Ī semi-regular tessellation is made up of two different regular shapes and each vertex (i.e. Traditionally, the pattern formed by a tessellation is repetitive. Two people have principally been responsible for investigating and developing tessellations: Roger Penrose, an eminent mathematician, and the artist, M.C.Escher. Tessellations are a common feature of decorative art and occur in the Presumably this is an indication of the fact that tiles of this shape are the easiest to interlock. The word tessellation itself derives from the Greek tessera, which is associated with four, square and tile. Tessellation is a system of shapes which are fitted together to cover a plane, without any gaps or overlapping. And of course, there is so much maths involved! It seems a golden opportunity to link art with maths, allowing the creative side of your children to take over. There is so much scope for practical exploration of tessellations both For many, this is their preferred method of learning and, in general, it engages pupils more effectively. So often in the classroom we try to make activities more enjoyable for the children by varying our teaching to include a more tactile or "hands on" approach. Samuel Palmer, A Cornfield by Moonlight with the E.'Why tessellation?' you may well be asking.William Frederic Ritschel, Boats Returning Home.William Merritt Chase, The Young Orphan.Jean Fouquet, Battle Between the Maccabees and the.Albert Pinkham Ryder, The Flying Dutchman.Although perhaps not as innovative as Escher's famous style, this is a beautiful and fascinating work of art that suggests a link between his extremely modern works and the graphic art of traditional cultures. Nevertheless, it gestures toward the work that would follow, with the repeated patterns on the central bird's plumage and the relationship of the smaller birds to the large one, each fitting into the negative space that the central bird creates. Instead, this is a fairly straightforward depiction of several birds in flight. Birds is a rather different piece it is not actually a tessellation, nor does it contain any impossible spaces or surreal use of gravity. His most famous works are Drawing Hands (1948), depictions of impossible architecture like Relativity (1953), and tessellations of birds and fish like Sky and Water I (1938). Although his work has largely been relegated to pop-culture cliche and math classes, Escher demonstrated a sophisticated understanding of the brain, visual stimuli, spatial relations, the role of images in culture, and both modernism and postmodernism. Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972) was an influential Dutch graphic artist, whose explorations of complex and impossible spaces and tessellations have become indelible fixtures of contemporary culture.
